• About Maia

    The Young Artist
  • Ever since Maia was two years old, she has expressed a passion for art. What began as recreational finger painting has since transpired into one masterpiece flaunting another proudly displayed in her home. She spends hours diligently addressing each detail and doing her best to put onto paper what she has envisioned in her mind. A very thoughtful, empathetic young girl, Maia always considers the feelings of others, be it human, animal or insect. She tries to understand what someone is feeling and becomes genuinely upset when she hears that not everyone is as fortunate or healthy as she is.

To that end, Maia was concerned when she heard stories about others in need and she began to think about what she could do on her own to help out. As a seven year old, finding a way to make a difference in the community is not always easy.

With some careful consideration, Maia’s ambition to help others became a reality by channeling her artwork to raise funds that would go directly to helping others in need.

Maia’s first set of paintings was made into notecards with 100% of the profits benefitting Daystar, an organization for medically fragile children. Maia’s grandmother served on the board and volunteered there for years and it touched Maia’s heart when she visited with the children at Daystar. Maia was determined to help their cause and has attended various functions and fundraisers for Daystar.

With the completion of her next set of paintings, Maia wanted to continue to help others in need while still helping Daystar with the first set of notecards. Maia is passionate about animals and was amazed, but not surprised, to hear how children with disabilities, at-risk youth, veterans with PTSD and others were helped just by being in the company of horses. EquiCenter, an organization using a wide range of therapeutic equestrian and related programs, does just that. Maia was so excited to learn about this organization and visit on several occasions.

With two sets of notecards completed, Maia is fulfilling her dream to make a difference. Her notecards are available to purchase and 100% of the proceeds go directly to Daystar or EquiCenter, depending on which set of notecards is purchased.

These two organizations and their missions have become close to Maia’s heart. She feels a strong connection to helping them and is very fortunate to be able to do so through her passion for art.
